Week 2

This week, although the assignment looks rather short, there was a lot to do! Added to the work, I wanted to begin to learn to use Adobe Fireworks in order to create a menu. I did that, but am not so happy with the colors, however, it is a menu, with buttons, and it works, a beginning. Next menu, I will better know where I am going with the project. Won't discuss how long it took to figure out. I will say that Adobe Fireworks is rich with possibilities for rollover menus and image maps with a great optimizing feature and it exports everything to Dreamweaver! Once in Dreamweaver, it simply needs to be inserted. In fact, this Navigation Bar is now a Library Item.

Week 2 was a great workout on using CSS for styling pages, creating Classes, IDs and redefining tags.

New Ideas:

  • Creating a page from a Tracing Image
  • Working with tables and cells
  • Inserting images, text and a search box
  • Styling the document
  • Creating an Image Map

This page does not pass the validation at W3C and I think it is because each button has an id and an id is only to be used once on a page. Because I had more than one button, I violated that rule. I am going to leave it, for now, as it is.
