In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

The Styling

I had fun with the 3 column hybrid by using the side bars and header to form a frame. Not sure how this holds up in the various browsers and platforms. I tested it on Firefox and Internet Explorer and it seemed all right. And, it all validated. Most of all, it helped me see there are many things I can try! And, although this would not be a good style for reading technical data, it does set a tone for feelings.

The images used for the borders were created in Painter X . In Photoshop, I rotated one to create a right facing side. 2 were pieced in Photoshop to create the top/header border. I found that in the Styling Panel you can center a background image which solved the problem of it being off center. The orange gradient background was also done in Photoshop.
