My Reading on Dreamweaver CS3 Introduction
The background of the tab content panels is a child with wings drawn on and this expression, "Sophie's world changed when she grew wings", next to her. And that is somewhat how I feel about what I have learned about Dreamweaver and CSS these 6 weeks! My world has changed!
Now that I am at the final chapter, I shall look back and remember well both the struggles and the fun of experimentation and discovery. A big thank you to all who helped to make this the great class it was! This "book", a yearbook of sorts, is testament to the journey.
And, thank you, Bean...I enjoyed the lessons and working with you once again.
Read more about the discoveries in the tabs ahead.

PS
I cannot affix the W3C validation icons to this page for one reason...there is no attribute "tabindex". It is part of the Tabbed Panels and I am not sure how to get around that. Ah, just read about it at the Adobe site:
Spry Widgets and Tab Index
It has made me feel a bit better!
Week 1
This tab needs to be a demonstration of an unformatted paragraph about a favorite thing I have learned during the 6 weeks.
For me, choosing a favorite is a difficult thing to do because that narrows it down to just one thing! Favorite precludes all else but that. I will then choose the use of the CSS Rules Panel. I love clicking Apply and then deciding if my style looks as I wish, changing it if it doesn't.
Week 2
This tab, Week 2, needs to be a styled paragraph with a link to one of my own favorite pages and perhaps a link to a favorite page of a classmate.
Again, narrowing the choices to one, the very nature of being a favorite, is difficult! I am going to choose a page from my series on the Rhode Island School of Design. I am happy with the colors, the background and the borders. It was on this page that I found these ideas:
- how far I could take a border in width
- the connection of working more closely on the background image in Photoshop
- masking it to enhance the softness of the edge on the background color thus making it appear to blend into the background on the page
- using Photoshop and Alien Skin filters to create seamless tiles
Here is a link to the page: Cropped Image
As for a classmate's page, that is another tough decision! I was impressed with many fine pages. But, if I must choose one, this and similar pages by Mary Gallant really inspired me! I then really began to think in terms of backgrounds, color and simplicity of design. However, the simplicity of design may never be my talent! That is because the fun of choosing colors, images and where they can be placed has become even more attractive with CSS!
Week 3
This tab is to contain a Spry Menu Bar. I will link to some places on my own site which at this point resembles urban sprawl...out of control! But, until I get to reconstruct the site, it will be that way. My way of saying, don't mind the mess.
Week 4
Week 4 must be all about images.
I have chosen to display thumbnails of portrait and flower 'paintings' I have done in Photoshop. The basis of each painting is a photo. Most I have done using the Smudge Brush tool with special presets for skin, hair and fabric. Working with these brushes, the dodge and burn tools and many layers, a fairly decent painting can be achieved. The last image, the water lily, was done using the Art History Brush in Photoshop.
If you are interested in trying Photoshop Smudge Painting, you can find the brushes and ideas here:
Week 5
Week 5 was all about tables and so this container will hold a table, a table with an image for a background.
I have finally learned how to center a table to its container (the div)using the CSS Panel! Just set its left and right margin to Auto.

Week 6
Place anything, my choice...
All right...a favorite photo I almost missed (almost too lazy to get the camera out before the leaf blew away)which I shall decorate with a wide and different border!
