I liked using the Digital Water Color and spent a lot of time experimenting with the various settings in the Brush Creator. I am somewhat happy with the outcome.

My greatest fun and discovery was with the Liquid Ink although at first I could not get the resistance brushes to resist! I learned from some reading that I did that Liquid Ink is resolution independent and so can be worked on at a small size and then, supposedly increased without color information degradation. I am, however, not quite convinced of that...it didn't seem to work for me (but perhaps I was doing something wrong). The puffy Valentine heart was achieved by double clicking the layer with the heart, then increasing the Threshold or Amount. I also used Soften Color and Edges.

I found that Liquid Ink was great for making Patterns for the Masked Pattern Pen because of its graphic qualities...nice sharp edges.

Gouache is probably my favorite brush so far and having used other brushes in Painter as well, it may end up being my very favorite! You may notice 2 sets of lemons...that is because I misread the directions and went right into the heavy handed painting! So, I went back and worked at the delicate lemons. It is amazing how versatile the Gouache brushes are! The most fun was working the snowy wood scene. I needed something simple at this point and all those boulders were too much for me!
