I am still quite happy with the Brush Creator. Week 4 work consists of Mixing Colors, Painterly Pastels, Oil Pastels, and Chalk .

For the first painting, I used Pastels to recreate a scene at Blithewold Gardens in Bristol, Rhode Island. I sketched the image and then began to place blocks of color and built from there using different Pastel Brushes. I wanted to add more texture to the trees and so drew some little textured sets of 'needles', captured them as dabs and then used them to apply the pastels in the areas of the trees.

For the roof of the gazebo, I captured a little rectangular dab and textured the roof with it. If I had not convinced myself to stop, I could still be painting on this image.

Blue Chalk Next, the blue chalk. I used Karen's sketch and stuck with only 4 colors:Cerulean, Ultramarine, Cobalt and Deep Cobalt blues. I loved the brightness of the Cerulean and thought the Deep Cobalt to look very much like purple. I did vary the choices of the chalks and had an interesting time trying different blenders from the Blenders brushes. I really liked using the monotone palette!
