We stayed in Ashland, New Hampshire and enjoyed the pool, hot tub and fireplace at the condo. On Thursday, we took a drive along the Kancamagus Highway through the White Mountain National Forest. We traveled on to North Conway to some of the outlet stores where I especially enjoyed shopping in the LL Bean outlet. After leaving North Conway , we continued on to Bretton Woods, to the magnificent Mt. Washington Hotel.

"A grand masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture, The Mount Washington Hotel was a two-year labor of love for 250 master craftsmen. Conceived by industrialist Joseph Stickney, this National Historic Landmark opened in 1902 and immediately became a favorite summer haunt for poets, presidents and princes."

It is also, as seen by these photos, a winter haunt as well! Click on the thumbnails to see a larger photo.

This photo to the left is taken with the Nikon Coolpix 3700. I used no flash and did not have the tripod (also, no more battery power in the Olympus C5050Z the camera used for the other outdoor photos on this page). Therefore the picture is very blurry because I was unable to keep the camera steady. However, I am quite happy with it because it gives a fantasy feeling with the resulting blur. The coldness of the outside is evident in the blueness and the warm glow coming from the gathering room reflects the warmth inside!
It was about this time that the batteries on the Olympus went down and I had to use the Nikon. I had to do some correcting to get rid of the noise in these low light shots. The stairway is better because I used the flash. Blur and nois aside, I am happy to have these photos!
