Painter Brushes I
Lesson 6
Scripts & Recording
The sketch is an example of recording a script and playing it back.

I liked learning about scripts and recording strokes. Obviously, if there is a large area to fill with crosshatching, for example, recording a stroke and playing it back wherever on the canvas you might want it is a very useful thing! I tried to think of a situation to use and rain was the first to come to mind.

Airbrushes
I have always loved Airbrushes and enjoyed using them in Painter. I did not save any painting to display, but love Inverted Pressure, Graffiti, Fine Detail Air. They seem to be a great way to add shadows, shading.
Tinting
A new love! I had no idea the Tinting Brushes could be so expressive. I will include two examples. The first, a painting from a swan photo taken at Roger Williams Park in Providence, is making use of a Difference Layer Blending Mode. The second, a photo of an Amaryllis taken this winter. I like the way I was able to make the orange stamen stand out so. I also like the iridescent light the brushes give.

Watercolor
Not my favorite, but I did enjoy the exercises. My second, the landscape, really needs a second chance, the field areas behind the trees show through too much. Also at the bottom I will add a link to larger images of the small ones on this page. I think the larger ones really show the brushes' possibilities.

Here are links to the larger images.
This was a great class in which I learned a lot. Plenty of time given to not only learning the brushes, but using them meaningfully.
