Macro Shots of a Bumble Bee September 6, 2003

Original
Shot of a bumble bee in a flower at Cedar Pond Gardens
I consider myself lucky to have gotten this close to the bee and to have a clear and clean macro shot of it. I am still somewhat unfamiliar with what I need to do and when I need to do it in order to get just the right composition. The bottom photos are selections from the same photo to demonstrate the detail captured. F stop 4.0, ISO 64, Exposure 1/200 of a second. The photos have been corrected in Photoshop by adjusting Levels, raising the middle slider to 1.52. That change brought out the details so much more clearly than the original photo. Then , using the Unsharp Mask Filter set at 52, 1 and 1. The difference can be seen by clicking the link above the photo to open a new window containing the original photo.
