Photo of my father as a baby near bedroom lamp These photos are an experiment in Black and White Photography using an OlympusC3040-Z digital Camera. I am not really a photographer but enjoy taking shots of anything and almost everyday!

I began by taking some shots in my bedroom of things on the dresser, blanket chest and tables. It seemed that they were for the most part mementos and might make good subjects for black and white photography. The title bar to the left is a photo of a lamp grouped with my father's picture as a baby. He was born in 1914 and the camera that took this photo of him was only capable of black and white. We had it colorized!

I have had the camera for 2 years now and never once had investigated its ability to take black and white images. I am enjoying the experience but I am still not sure what is good and what is not with black and white.

Here are some of the very many photos I took today and edited in Photoshop. There were perhaps 40 or 50 and from those chose these, but still not sure.

Taking shots and coming right to the computer to see the result is such fun.

The first group are shots of the bedroom mementos.

The second group are of the grounds where I live. It was an overcast day today, July 14, 2003. Perhaps if the sun were out the results would be quite different. Another experiment saved for a sunnier day.
