Pseudo Elements

I needed a romantic idea, or a new life, to experiment with pseudo elements.

Since that was out of the question for me, I decided to write about my granddaughters who are both going through times which will fortify them for the rest of their lives !

Thank you for this reason for me to be able to celebrate their uniqueness...at least in my heart!

Cousins

Lauren

Lauren is now 19 years old and I am left wondering where all the time has gone...the time which had to pass to change her from a beautiful baby with blonde hair, blue eyes and serious thoughts into a beautiful young woman with blonde hair, blue eyes and serious thoughts!

Photography is what Lauren loves to do and she has taken some beautiful photos. It is not unusual to see her grab her camera, go running out the door shouting back that she's going to take a photo of the tree across the street because of the way the sun was shining on it. The hurry was to not miss the moment of perfect light.

Studying culinary at Johnson and Wales University, here in Providence, is keeping Lauren busy. She received a TA position at the Radisson Hotel where she is addressed as Chef! This position is contributing quite well to the cost of her tuition! She has now applied for the Nutrition Course at the university which will help her to reach her dream which is to see "Lauren Gagnon, Registered Dietitian" on her white coat. With her Dean's list grades, we are sure she will be accepted into the advanced course.

I wonder if the idea to be a nutritionist was there in her mind when many years ago, as a little girl, she read the serving size on a box of Easter Peeps and was determined to eat exactly that number!

Kelly

Kelly began life as a beautiful baby who became a curly haired brunette who loved to sing. She is 17 years old now and still loves to sing, to write her own music and songs, and accompany herself with guitar or keyboard. I remember the time when I knew there was something different about her and the voice that came out of her! She was about 2, sitting on the floor wearing a little sailor dress and hat, at Lauren's birthday party. There she sat, singing her heart out, singing the Little Mermaid's song. We all stopped and listened!

As a senior in high school, Kelly has played the leading role in most of the plays since she was in grade nine. Her joy is in the music and the friends she has made during the long practices. Elite Chorale, Jazz Ensemble, Band, play rehearsal and Orchestra have not kept her from her standing as #8 in her graduating class at Pilgrim High School.

Kelly is off to Belgium and the Netherlands this week with the Euro Chorus with her friends and teacher at Pilgrim High School. Here is what she said in the Warwick Beacon (a local newspaper): “My entire Pilgrim life is music after school. It basically defines my high school career,” said student Kelly Johnson.
