Keomi's Page

Keomi is a Siamese cat who came home to me about 7 years ago. I bought her in Newport, RI when I never had a thought about buying a kitten! My daughter was taking her female Siamese cat to be bred and that is when I fell in love with the cutest little Siamese kitten!

While we needed to wait several hours for the process for which we were there, we went for lunch, shopping , whatever we could find to do to while away the time. Unfortunately, for me, my mind was on this lovable kitten the whole time. I even made a sort of bargain with myself: if the woman brought that kitten downstairs to show me once more before we left, it would be my sign to buy her! She did! I and I bought her! Have not really been sorry.

Who could resist eyes like this?

I have had a little fun using adjustment layers in Photoshop 7.0.1 to change the color of the eyes and then got the idea that animating the color change would be fun, too! The animation was done in Image Ready. It is optimized at about 14 kilobytes.

I followed Janee's advice about using an adjustment layer and then painting in the mask to reveal what is underneath.

For Keomi's eyes I used Solid Color Black, reduced the opacity of the adjustment layer enough to see what I wanted to reveal and then painted into the mask to just uncover the eyes. I then used another adjustment layer, Channel Mixer and got the different color of the eyes. Then I merged the adjustment layer down, duplicated the layer and then applied another adjustment layer and intensified the color, merged down. Then once more, same process.

The layers were then sent to Image Ready where I could make frames from the layers. I did adjust the timing so that there is a 1 second interval between the frames. Reduced the image size, then checked the optimized views and chose the one I thought best.
