Digital Art, with instructor Hillary Sadur, is offered at LVS Online. Hillary has her own site with some tutorials that are very helpful for drawing and painting. Hillary uses Photo Impact by Ulead, yet her tutorials are helpful regardless of the application you might use. Hillary's Site

The course is presented with Ulead PhotoImpact in mind but is general in scope so that any graphics application can be used. I am using both Corel Painter IX and Adobe Photoshop CS. Lots of drawing and painting basics information!

Shapes with shading for 3D appearance...
These are the preliminaries...the basics at which I need much practise! Perspective lines are still a mystery to me and all my sketches lean to the left but I enjoyed doing them and just need more practise.
  1. The different boxes shown with their respective perspective lines.
  2. The sketches which I enjoyed doing very much, had never really tried this before.
  3. The shapes with shading to attempt to show the lighting. I still need work at this. I created the shapes by using the selection tool for rectangle and circle, filling with color and then shading with the Airbrush. The cylinder is a combination of the rectangle and circle. The cone made by using the grid to draw a triangle and then adding a circle to thebottom.

  1. Cup sketch for which I used the pen tool in Photoshop.
  2. This is a Waverly cup which has a matching bowl and salad plate. I chose it because I love the colors and mixture of dots and stripes. I used Painter Artists' Oil brushes and Blender brushes. Airbrushes were used for shadows and details.

  5. What a nice surprise to discover that Painter has a Perspective Grid! I didn't use it for this project but do intend in the future to use it for creating boxes, houses, etc. I took this screen capture just to show how nice it is.
