Week 1 consists of learning rotations the angles of which are calculated by Illustrator by placing the 360/by the number of elements desired. By choosing a center point, the elements will be evenly placed around that point. The other important ideas were to edit symbols and to learn about the Pathfinder and the Offset Path command. I am also taking Getting Your feet Wet with Sara at this time!

The Clock

The clock started with a circle, center marked by using Guidelines. Then, the line tool was used to create a mark for 12 O' Clock. Next, the Rotation Tool box, the 360 divided by 12, Alt click the center of the circle, Copy. Then, to repeat the slash marks around the face of the clock, Ctrl+D . The minute marks were placed in a similar way., as were the numbers. Each number then had to be rotated on its own center.

The butterflies and flowers are Illustrator Symbols which I edited by ungrouping. I basically changed the colors and strokes. I also took the leaves off the flowers and drew stems.

Layer Styles were used on rim and the hands of the clock.

Next object was to use the Rotation Command to place circles around a Circle which was created by an Ellipse and then the Offset Path command which drew a second circle which was exactly a specified number of pixels away from the first. The set of circles were then set to Subtract , expanded and filled. I added a handle with a decorative end to create a bubble wand.

After learning about the rotations, the last assignment was to create an original image using the new ideas we had learned. I created original flowers and a wreath using edited symbols.
