I had a great time creating the stamps below. However, they are not postage stamps, but coffee stamps. I love Starbuck's coffee and have several varieties ready for brewing at all times. As I was preparing the coffee one morning this week, I noticed that ther e were stamps on the bags with a bit of a description and some artwork on them. It was then I decided to use that idea. It was a long and involved project, finding the right fonts, setting up the stamps, adding the text and styles, adding patterns to the font characters. It was a great workout for many things and I feel that I learned quite a lot about text, patterns, styles, the Pathfinder and more!

About the stamps: the Dingbats used were Africa and Africa Patterns for the art work and varied other fonts for the text. One I really find delightful is Fiolex Girls! You can see it on the Ipanema Bourbon from Brazil!

The grape project above involved drawing the leaves and grapes. The leaves were then used to create a new scatter brush. The grapes were to have been selected, Alt/drag to duplicate. I did that but also used one as a symbol and dragged from the Symbols Palette. I then made a Symbol out the bunch and placed the bunches along the vine which was created by drawing 3 straight lines and then 'roughing' them up a little bit!

Since I had created a purple bunch of grapes, I simply made a new Gradient for some green grapes, made a wine label as a Symbol and then drew the wine bottle side, used Revolve to create the 3 D wine bottle on which I placed the 'label' as Map Art.

Since it isn't Christmas time (June, daisy chain time!) I decided to use the Christmas Wreath idea and create a daisy wreath instead. I made the leaves, starting with an ellipse, added points, converted them to corner points and dragged on them with the Direct Selection Tool to get something that might resemble a daisy leaf.. I then dragged them(well a group of 3 and also 1) and set the parameters for a Scatter brush. I did change the settings in the syllabus because I was working with a different sort of leaf. I then drew one daisy, placed it into the Symbols palette and use it from there.

I have been working so much with Illustrator, that now when I go to use Photoshop, I am looking for the tools I have been using in Illustrator!
