Spider Macro

September 14, 2003

This is an ugly spider! He is hairy and the magnification of the macro shot has really given me a very strange feeling while working on these images...creepy and scary! I was fascinated with the beauty of the bee whch can sting but really bothered by the spider.!

The spider had spun his web on the balcony, between planters. It is the second web he has had out there, the other probably being destroyed by a storm (actually those webs seem pretty strong, though). Here are some shots of him and his web.

The spider, quite close. The black object near his head, covering his face is an ant. The spider again, too bad he was facing the other way and we cannot see his back. Maybe he is better looking than this! His web, so well made!
I have also included on this page a dragon fly and another spider web I found down near the pond, no spider there at the time though! The dragon fly moved his wing as I attempted to take his picture, so there is a blur. The second web has dew drops on it.
